What to see in Kaysersberg

The Hotel de Ville , a building from the Rhine Renaissance.

Sainte Croix Church , built between the 12 th  and 15 th  centuries.

The fortified bridge , in pink sandstone of the region, offers a pleasant view over the village.

The house where Albert Schweitzer, the 1952 Nobel Peace Prize winner, was born : a museum presents his work as a doctor in Gabon.

The so-called “Schlossberg” imperial castle : “Kaysersberg” means “mountain of the Emperor” and this castle bears witness to the influence of the Holy Empire on the Kaysersberg valley in the Middle Ages. Dominating the village, a 10-minute walk leads you up to the remains and offers the chance to enjoy a superb viewpoint.

The Verrerie de Kaysersberg glass workshop : the work of master glass craftsmen is always fascinating. Visit this workshop to admire the glass working techniques and acquire a few unique items.

The Alsace Wine Route
 

The famous Alsace Wine Route passes through the Kaysersberg Valley: take advantage of your time at Le Chambard to discover the many treasures. The ”Terre & Vins au Pays de Colmar” territory is a unique destination that will delight all wine lovers. The valley is home to 7 Grands Crus out of the 51 in the entire Alsatian vineyard.

Do not hesitate to visit it on foot, by bicycle or by car. From wineries to estates, discover the typical grape varieties of Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Sylvaner, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir.

Right next to Kaysersberg, two wine trails allow visitors to discover the vines and the people who grow them.

Christmas in Alsace

From Advent to Epiphany, Alsace celebrates Christmas. Towns and villages are filled with thousands of lights, decorations and Christmas trees line the streets and the Christmas markets lay out their delicious cinnamon-scented treats and crafts. A traditional atmosphere that people travel from far and wide to discover.

Kaysersberg  welcomes 250,000 to 300,000 visitors every year. At Christmas, the village is like something out of a fairy-tale and you are advised to book your stay in advance in order to take advantage of this very unique ambience.

Mulled wine, bredala and other specialities can also be savoured throughout the valley. Do not hesitate to pay a visit to the Christmas markets in Colmar, Mulhouse and the many surrounding villages. In Strasbourg, the Christmas market is very old and has brought the city’s streets to life for several centuries. Treat yourself to a getaway in Alsace for the end-of-year festivities: the change of scenery and conviviality will delight you and allow you to forget the long winter!

Top Activities

We suggest a few places to visit and activities to enjoy in the surroundings of Kaysersberg:

The Lac Blanc resort : in the Vosges mountains, this resort is as lively in the summer as it is in the winter. Bike Park, hiking trails, adventure park, rock-climbing, cross-country and downhill ski trails, sledging, and more. The activities are multiple and varied. Do not miss the  Bare Feet Trail : an original and tactile experience that will require you to step out of your shoes for a 1.2 km walk over the forest floor (fitted out accordingly).

Ammerschwihr Trois-Epis golf course : 5 minutes from Le Chambard, a 5,207-metre hilly 18-hole course on the Wine Route. Guests at Le Chambard benefit from a 20% discount  on green fees. Information and registration at the hotel reception.         

Astrong No Kill fly-fishing session with a guide: on the Kaysersberg river or the mountain lakes, treat yourself to a spot of fishing with Eddy Zohner, a renowned guide and enthusiast. From June to September. Information and registration at the hotel reception. 

Bicycle tours of the vineyard : do not hesitate to ask us for advice. We provide all-terrain bikes free of charge.
